NEW SINGLE SKY STARTS FALLING
12th September 2005
Doves release Sky Starts Falling, the third single lifted from their critically acclaimed Number 1 Album Some Cities on 12th September through Heavenly Recordings/EMI Records.
Sky Starts Falling is a powerful, dynamic track that has quickly become a live favourite. Apocalyptic concerns abound, the sound of a band that have conceived a track that is shorter and more forceful than what has gone before, but still highlighting a wonderful progression. Purposeful and full of vitality, Sky Starts Falling is one of the defining tracks from Some Cities.
Some Cities is a breathtakingly diverse record yet brutal in its clarity. A succinct, mature record, it sees Doves hitting their stride and becoming a more concise, literate band, reflecting the changing times. The record ultimately captures the bands love of northern soul.
Following phenomenal shows at Glastonbury, T In The Park and Somerset House and supporting U2, Coldplay and Oasis at recent stadium shows Doves are set to play V on 20/21 August. The band are currently on tour in Australia.

--------------- Interview: Watch The-Raft catch up with our favourite Manchester rockers HERE
One of the highly anticipated albums over the next few months has got to be the third album from Doves, Some Cities.
The trio from Manchester have just finished a string of sell out shows across the UK and the first single from the album, Black and White Town, is picking up considerable airplay ahead of its release on 7 February. National BBC station Radio 1 made the song its record of the week.
Released through the EMI Records-linked Heavenly Recordings label on 21 February, Some Cities is the bands first release in almost three years. A shorter, more forceful record than its predecessors, Some Cities evokes the changing face of the North of England; from inner-city grime to urban renewal at brakeneck speed.
After a brief break Doves return to the road for more live shows across the UK in February and March before heading over to the US where they will play a number of gigs including a three day stint at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, Texas.
Returning to the UK in April for more shows, Doves will then embark on a European tour before the busy festival season kicks in. All told this will be the biggest Doves tour to date.
