The Thrills are home at last!
J: Hey guys, youve just been to America, what was that like?
Daniel: Yeah it was great. We started off in a very very cold Canada which none of us were used to. Then we moved down the east cost to places like Boston and New York and stopped in new jersey before heading down to Texas then onto L.A. all the way up to Vancouver and on to Chicago where we finished. It was a great trip, and when youre in America you really feel like youre on the road because of the travelling.
J: How many miles did you clock up?
Padraic: There was one stage when George our driver, a great southern Georgian man, a real character; well, there was one day he drove for eighteen hours straight, with only two twenty minute stops
J: Is that safe?
Padraic: Well probably not, but we were late for an in-store signing, and he got us there only an hour late!
Connor: The owner of the store was giving them free beer while they waited for us!
J: You obviously took in a lot of the continent there, was there a lot of difference between the different places?
Daniel: We went through a lot of weather, like in LA we were wearing t-shirts then in Montreal you couldnt walk the street for two minutes, you couldnt feel your feet it was so cold.
Padraic: It was -35 with a minus 50 wind chill.
J: Does that affect the gigs?
Connor: Put it like this, one day our sound guy woke up and there was ice inside his bunk! Chicago was almost as cold because of the wind.
J: What was the reaction as you went down the continent?
Connor: It was great because on the first tour of America the record wasnt out, but this time round nearly all the shows sold out, so it was just a great response and a warm feeling, so, it was very cool.
J: How does it feel to go thousands of miles away and have a packed out show?
Daniel: I think it feels stranger in a place like Japan, because of the language barrier its that little bit more difficult to take it in, but America is a place we travel a lot now. We just feel lucky, its a great experience.
