The B-52s Are Back
Make room for ‘Funplex’ by Georgia’s finest
The B-52s along with producer Steve Osborne (New Order, Happy Mondays, Doves, KT Tunstall) have created a new album as cutting edge, distinctive and danceable as their self-titled debut album and hit single ‘Rock Lobster’ were in 1979.
The album ‘Funplex’ will be preceded by the single ‘Funplex’ on March 17th which comes with mixes courtesy of Scissor Sisters, CSS and Peaches.
The influential band – who bridged the gap between punk and new wave with a sound that was uniquely their own, recorded the album in their native Athens, Georgia.
All 11 songs was written by Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider, Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson, and ‘Funplex’ finds the band in vigorous, forward stance, while staying true to the party-rock style that influenced such current bands as LCD Soundsystem, Interpol and Scissor Sisters.
Fresh from a sold-out DJ set at London's Punk in mid-Januari, the band will return to Europe and the UK for Summer Festivals, and are planning a further tour in the autumn.
The album ‘Funplex’ is out on 24 March
