Chems 'Come With Us' Dissected!
The Chemical Brothers
Come With Us
Join Tom and Ed on another euphonious journey. Music Week deemed this album to be the "first significant album of 2002". Come With Us is an invitation into the inspired psyche of these two likely lads. It Began In Afrika was the first hit single off the album that once again crossed over to a wider, more appreciative audience. Star Guitar their latest release filters through the air-waves creating yet another worthy impression, coupled with the ingenuity of French director Michel Gondry, the video to this single intricately captures the structure of the track. This is one of the best videos I have seen for a dance track, with a high level of production that reflects the album as a whole.
Influenced by a psychedelic culture that brought these guys together in the first place, each track on this, their third number one selling album, ebbs and flows from a mellow rhythmic and subtle sound to kicking the seat of your pants, like reaching the top of a roller-coaster ride and getting ready for the rush that you know is about to come! A concoction of distorted quivering vocals, pounding tribal beats to a trancy undertone, and collaboration with such artists as Richard Ashcroft and Beth Orton, this combination can not go unnoticed.
And indeed it hasnt. Whilst the market seems to be flooded by R n B artists, the Come With Us album sales have proved that the need for good dance music is still in great demand. Seemingly, popularity is generated by familiarity, this duo have tweaked the sound of 80s acid house raising it to a level that both the old school audience and the newer clubbing generation can appreciate. There isnt a moment that you feel the Chemical Brothers could not surpass what they have done before as they always manage to bring their fan base a different resonance that is exploding with energy. Along with Orbital, they have brought dance music forward.
